reclaim REAL food believes in our right to know what's in our food, a right that can only be exercised if food is labeled accurately and consumers educate themselves about the health and safety issues surrounding GMOs (genetically modified organisms). Defined by the World Health Organization as "organisms in which the genetic material (DNA) has been altered in a way that does not occur naturally," GMOs are in widespread use and distribution throughout the United States despite having been banned and regulated in forty other countries. Responsible for introducing new toxins and allergens into our food, manufacturers are not even required to label GMO ingredients in their food.
Don't you want the right to know?
Chefs Nina Clemente and Michael Reed have always embraced local and organic produce, but the gravity of the issues surrounding GMOs became more apparent with Prop 37 and their introduction to the work of Robyn O'Brien. A former food industry analyst and strategist, O'Brien has been of a champion of raising awareness about GMOs and our right to know what's in our food.
